Safety Information
Happy New Year to all! Proud to serve as your Safety Officer for 2010. Been thinking a little bit about what type of Safety Program our fine Chapter should have, but I am not quite sure yet, and I could use your help – more on that in a minute. I can tell you I really believe in the above statement. Seems as if motorcycle riding is a bit like sky diving – both are more fun if done safely! I think everyone can relate to that – whether you have ever been sky diving or not! I believe motorcycle accidents don’t’ “just happen,” mysteriously, but they are caused, by a number of factors. A big part of my job, I think, is to help establish a baseline of knowledge for the Chapter of what those factors are, among other duties to be determined. Here’s where you come in. From about January thru March, I intend to take a thorough, deliberate approach in developing our Safety Program, and I would like your input. Please get me your ideas on what you think our Safety program should have, or be, and we will consider all input. What we are after is a solid, common sense program that supports the Chapter’s purpose, which is So please send me your input in any format – heck, you can write it in crayon on the bottom of a beer case, I’ll take it. (But please don’t try to bring it to me if you get that brilliant idea after partaking in the case --- get it to me later, mate!) Watch this space for future developments, Ride Safe, Drew |
